as an internet publisher, the sidecartel launched the online pop culture magazine, outsideleft.com in 2004. offering opportunities to unpublished writers and experienced old hands alike, outsideleft is a love letter to the largely less revered, providing insight, reviews and ephemera of all pop culture matters.

the sidecartel is a new media organization with old media aspirations. we began publishing books of rocknroll journalism in 2006. 'The First Annual Outsideleft Hardy Annual' was quickly followed by Alex V. Cook's, 'Darkness, Racket and Twang - Essential Listening from the Fringes of Popular and Unpopular Music'.
